Best Characters in Roblox Encounters – Tier list

Unlike a majority of Roblox fighting sims that utilize the same base techniques and meet the same expectations, Encounters takes PvP battles to the next level with game mechanics and ideas drawn directly from the exceptionally popular non-Roblox series, Super Smash Bros. Similar to its inspiration, Encounters has an impressive roster of characters for players to use, level up, and unlock—so which ones are the best? In the brief guide below we've answered this question by creating a tier list that takes into consideration a character's ease of use, stats, design, and all around effectiveness in battle.

Tier list

S tier

• Kusanagi
  • Kusanagi is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, champions in all of Encounters. With her dual katanas and insane mobility, Kusanagi is full of high damage attacks, massive knock backs, and enough power to take down most opponents. For as buffed as Kusanagi is, she's also relatively easy to learn and use.
• Pactwo
  • Not only is Pactwo a solid fighter on his own, he also has the unique ability to summon a Stand to help him attack, which can serve as a strong advantage in battle. With multiple knock back moves and a powerful ult (ultimate move), Pactwo is the perfect character for players who prefer to win as fast as possible, regardless of the actual damage that takes place. Though Pactwo can seem intimidating to use at first, once mastered he is seriously a force to be reckoned with.
• Hamza
  • Equipped with a baseball bat and rough-and-tough attitude, Hamza means business, and his powerful, ranged moves show it! In just three solid attacks Hamza can almost always guarantee a win for the player using him, or at least a solid amount of damage.
• Seth
  • Not only does Seth have the fight to the death spirit, he has the look as well. With bloody clothes, a creepy mask based off of the Mimic, and a chainsaw as a weapon, Seth is sure to show your opponents who's boss before the match even begins! Even beyond his unsettling looks however, Seth proves that he's more than just a scary character with his powerful attacks, surprising mobility, and impressive defense.
• Rena
  • As one of three starting characters, Rena has definitely made an impressive mark in the Encounters line up. Not only does she have both a solid knock back and ult with high damage, she's also easy to learn. Whether unfortunately or fortunately, depending on if you're playing with or against her, Rena's moves are also exceptionally spam-able, which can be helpful in dealing a hefty amount of damage in quick bursts.

A tier

• Arash
  • Arash is a love/hate character for most players—you love to play with him, but hate playing against him, and that's fair! Arash has insanely OP long-ranged moves that, when combined with close combat moves, feel inescapable, making him a truly dangerous, and sometimes annoying, opponent. For these same reasons however, he's also a solid choice when looking for a new, powerful main.
• Senthe
  • Senthe utilizes stuns, grapples, and knock backs to create a chaotic yet powerful play style. It may take a few rounds to fully understand her move set, however once broken down, it will leave you feeling unstoppable against most other champions. With the ability to stand their ground with a simple grapple + M1 combo, Senthe users can save a majority of their stamina throughout their fights—unleashing it at the end for a deadly, ultimate finish.
• Alina
  • Great for beginners, Alina is one of the most balanced champions in the roster in terms of her move set and mobility. With both short and long-ranged moves, knock backs, and the ability to spam her non-ult attacks, Alina makes a name for herself as one of the most user-friendly and solid-all-around champions.
• Fiona
  • Fiona, while lacking in her number of knock back moves, is a fantastic character for those who enjoy a more chaotic and quick-on-their-feet play style. Similar to the character Tracer from the popular non-Roblox game Overwatch, Fiona can teleport small distances, easily confusing her opponents and attacking them from behind. Because of this, she has the ability to dodge nearly every attack and make her move when no one's watching, making her the champion with the best mobility in all of Encounters.
• Construct
  • Another great option for new players, Construct boasts a large hammer that can be used to knock back enemies an impressive distance and deal a hefty amount of damage. As a free champion, Construct is often forgotten and thus overshadowed by those higher than him in the roster, however his solid and balanced performance leave him as a constant contender against even the most powerful opponents.
• Zhao
  • Similar to Fiona, Zhao is known for his incredible movement speed and capabilities. With an aerial teleportation move and high flying jump, it's nearly impossible to knock a seasoned Zhao player off of the map—making him both a loved and hated character, depending on which side of the match you fall on. On top of his mobility, Zhao also deals an impressive amount of damage with his Naginata, or elongated samurai sword, which he uses to generate electricity and knock back opponents.

B tier

• Don
  • For those who prefer close combat or more traditional fighting styles, Don is your champion. With moves that appear to fall somewhere underneath the martial arts and wrestling umbrellas, Don isn't afraid to get up close and personal with his opponents. Where he lacks in long-ranged moved, he makes up for in powerful knock back and stun abilities.
• Walter
  • While Walter can be an incredibly powerful champion if used correctly, his learning curve is what places him lower on our list. In order to master Walter, you'll need a good amount of patience and free time to truly feel out and be successful with his move set and mobility. With that being said however, once this feat is completed, Walter is a pretty broken champion—his main con is the dedication that it takes to reach a point of comfortability.
• Ryan
  • The third and final starting champion, Ryan, is a great choice for beginners who are looking for a truly middle ground play style. Not only is his ult one of the most impressive ranged moves in all of Encounters, his normal sword slashes can also deal a decent amount of damage up close. Unlike the other starting champions, Ryan has exceeded being used solely by beginners and, in fact, is continuously used in ranked play.
• Charlemagne
  • Charlemagne is a unique character when it comes to both his move set and aesthetic, as he utilizes flurries of snow and ice to take down his opponents. With extremely spam-able moves and an impressive knock back combo, Charlemagne can easily be an efficient champion when put in the correct, and capable, hands.
• Mai
  • Mai users, similar to those who enjoy playing as Dom, appreciate getting their hands dirty in a fight. With a majority of her moves being effective at close range, Mai packs quite the punch, or slice, when she has the chance to attack her opponents face to face. Her silent mobility is impressive and she remains a fairly balanced champion all around.

C tier

• Aloysius
  • For players who prefer to stay away from the action and play it safe with long range attacks, Aloysius is the character for you. A solider armed with four guns, Aloysius uses the distance between him and his opponents to his advantage by blowing them away with an impressive rapid-fire ult and decent base moves. The only real disadvantage to Aloysius is his lack of knock back moves, not including his ult.
• Poppy
  • While Poppy may receive a bad rep for being one of the weaker champions, she can actually be quite efficient if used correctly. Though she lacks base knock back moves, her ult makes up for this with a powerful launch that charges extremely quickly—much faster than a majority of other champions. Poppy's use of poison gas and barrels is also a great way to leave a lasting effect on both close and long-ranged enemies.
• Gunso
  • Gunso is a difficult champion to place on this list as his stats, move set, and abilities are constantly being tweaked by the Encounters developers. Regardless of these changes however, Gunso at a base level remains a solid character choice for those who prefer a more passive play style. With an impressive grapple ability, decent knock back moves, and good attack mobility, Gunso succeeds in the hands of those who are willing to take the time to learn and work with him.
• Hanna
  • Hanna, like a few other champions on this list, is known as a love/hate character in Encounters. When spammed, Hana's M2 and ult can completely redact your opponents ability to re-enter the map after being knocked off, leading to a near instant and sure-fire round win. On the other hand however, Hana's actual damage per attack is rather low, and a majority of her moves can be dodged quite easily. The main way to secure a win with Hana is by spamming your knock back moves, leading or forcing your opponent to the edge, and prohibiting them from returning after they've been pushed off.
